Spotify Adds Setlists and Share Cards to Its Reserved Concert Ticket Program
Spotify's Reserved ticketing initiative, which reserves two concert tickets for dedicated Premium subscribers, has introduced new features including personalized share cards and setlists. The program was first announced in May and has been tested on Live Nation tours over the summer. The new capabilities were unveiled on Sept. 24.
The Reserved program, unveiled at Spotify's Investor Day on May 21, identifies superfans through listening metrics like streams, saves, and shares, then holds two tickets for Premium subscribers when tours are announced. After summer testing on Live Nation dates, the Sept. 24 update adds share cards for social sharing, setlist integration sourced from setlist.fm that updates after each performance, and a consolidated hub for event details and venue information.
Participating artists in the rollout include Miley, Role Model, beabadoobee, Jonas Brothers, John Summit, Young Thug, and Metallica. Selected users receive offers via email, push notification, or the "Your Updates" section, then link their Spotify and Ticketmaster accounts to complete purchases within their window. Tickets remain held until the window closes, subject to availability.
This initiative could meaningfully reshape how concert tickets are distributed, shifting some allocation away from general on-sales toward algorithmic fan identification. Dedicated listeners may benefit from reduced purchasing stress, while casual fans could face more limited access to high-demand shows. The setlist and share-card features may deepen fan engagement and social promotion around tours, potentially benefiting artists and promoters through organic marketing. However, the reliance on streaming data raises questions about whether metrics truly capture fandom, and could disadvantage listeners who use other platforms or lack Premium subscriptions.
