The consistent 5-10% nonlocal presence across communities, combined with the absence of foreign children and the concentration of mobility among those under 30, indicates migration was primarily an individual undertaking. The presence of nonlocals in both modest and richly furnished graves suggests movement was not restricted by social standing.
This research could reshape how archaeologists interpret Bronze Age social dynamics, moving beyond the assumption that women relocated primarily through marriage. If migration involved both sexes equally and spanned social classes, it may indicate that economic opportunity, trade connections, or personal choice drove movement.
