Egyptian tech delegation to showcase innovations at Baghdad IT expo
Egypt's IT and communications industry chamber announced the launch of an Egyptian pavilion at the fifth edition of ITEX Iraq 2026, held in Baghdad from September 30 to October 3. The delegation includes 12 Egyptian companies specializing in communications, digital transformation, AI, and fintech, aiming to export their solutions to the Iraqi market. The participation is supported by the Egyptian Exporters Association and the ITIDA, as part of a broader effort to strengthen technological partnership between Egypt and Iraq.
The Egyptian pavilion will be located in Hall 5 of the Baghdad International Fairgrounds, placing it alongside roughly 33 Iraqi government entities, including 16 ministries spanning planning, education, health, trade, transport, agriculture, oil, insurance, defense, and the central bank. This positioning is intended to maximize direct interaction between Egyptian firms and Iraqi officials involved in digital government initiatives.
The expo operates under the patronage of Iraq's prime minister, and its official theme, "Time for Digital Transformation," aligns with Egypt's push to expand digital exports across the region. The 12 participating companies bring expertise in enterprise automation, cloud computing, ERP and CRM systems, cybersecurity, data centers, fintech solutions, smart city applications, and AI-driven education and healthcare tools, with business-to-business meetings planned throughout the event.
This delegation could deepen Egypt-Iraq economic ties while giving Egyptian tech firms access to a market actively modernizing its digital infrastructure. Iraqi government agencies may benefit from proven Egyptian solutions in digital transformation, potentially accelerating their modernization efforts. The exchange could also create long-term partnerships that influence how both countries approach regional technology collaboration, though outcomes will depend on whether initial meetings translate into concrete contracts and sustained cooperation beyond the expo itself.
