Kent convenience store owner rebrands from Londis to Spar
Jatinder Sahota, a second-generation retailer on the Isle of Sheppey, has converted his Minster store from Londis to Spar. The refit includes new chillers, expanded chilled and frozen ranges, and a redesigned layout. The switch is supported by wholesaler AF Blakemore.
The Minster store, trading for over three decades, has undergone a comprehensive refresh. New energy-efficient chillers and a broader chilled selection are complemented by a larger frozen section featuring Iceland-branded goods. The frontage has been opened up to improve sightlines into the shop.
The rebrand also introduces several new offers, including a revamped meal deal, a selected Philpotts range, and an upgraded food-to-go lineup from Country Choice. The coffee service has shifted from Tchibo to Smoking Bean. Sahota, who began working there at 16, emphasized the family-run nature and personal customer relationships.
The rebrand could signal a broader trend of independent retailers partnering with major wholesalers to stay competitive. For the local community, the expanded chilled and frozen ranges may improve daily convenience, while the modernized layout could attract new customers.
