Independent retailers honoured at Retail Industry Awards 2026
The winners of the independent and company-owned categories at the Retail Industry Awards 2026 were announced on 22 September. Awards included Best Use of Technology, Community Retailer of the Year, and Food-to-go Retailer of the Year. Winners included Kislingbury Village Store, Mulkerns Eurospar, and Spar Ulceby Cross Services.
The ceremony, held at the Hilton London Bankside, recognised excellence across multiple independent retail categories, with judges praising practical technology adoption, community engagement, and strong merchandising. Kislingbury Village Store won for operational tech use, while Mulkerns Eurospar was lauded for its wide community support. Campbell’s of Leyburn took three awards, including Drinks and Fresh & Chilled Retailer of the Year, noted for exceptional product depth. Spar Ulceby Cross Services earned three wins, including Most Improved Store, reflecting significant recent investment and expansion.
These awards highlight how small retailers increasingly blend technology, community ties, and specialised offerings to compete against larger chains.
