Airties embeds cybersecurity features into router platform for internet providers
Airties has added integrated cybersecurity capabilities to its connectivity management platform, enabling internet service providers to protect subscribers' home and small business networks directly from the router. The company cites rising AI-driven attacks and consumer expectations for ISP-provided security. The new features offer two layers of protection for every device on the network.
The new router-level protections respond to a threat environment where AI has accelerated attack sophistication beyond what traditional signature-based databases can handle. Airties reports that typical households now face roughly 29 intrusion attempts daily, a nearly threefold increase from 2024 levels. The platform draws on intelligence gathered from more than 50 million connected homes to identify emerging attack patterns.
The two-tier approach gives ISPs both baseline protections—including malicious site blocking, content filtering, and parental controls—and advanced capabilities such as Smart IoT defense and AI-driven remediation. Because security operates at the router level, coverage extends to every connected device without requiring individual endpoint software, and protections follow subscribers onto mobile networks for converged operators.
Embedding security directly into ISP-provided routers could shift the cybersecurity burden from individual consumers to service providers, potentially closing protection gaps for households with limited technical expertise. As AI-driven attacks multiply, this model may become a standard expectation rather than a premium feature, though its effectiveness will depend on how quickly providers deploy updates and whether advanced tiers remain accessible to smaller businesses. The approach could also reshape how consumers perceive their ISP's role in digital safety.
