Flare Network Expands XRP DeFi Capabilities with FXRP

Flare Network's FXRP, a wrapped version of XRP, has reached its first anniversary, with its initial 5 million minting cap filled quickly. The network has added lending, liquidity, and yield programs, and released version 1.3 with destination-tag minting. CEO Hugo Philion highlights that XRP can be used as working capital across chains.
Flare’s FXRP wrapped asset turns one year old, with its initial 5 million token minting cap reached within hours of launch. Since then, the network has integrated lending through Kinetic, liquidity pools via SparkDEX, BlazeSwap, and Enosys, plus yield programs. A May 2026 upgrade, version 1.3, added destination-tag minting to simplify exchange and custodian onboarding. Flare is also developing Confidential Compute and Protocol-Managed Wallets, while fees from FAssets activity feed the FIRE reinvestment entity, supporting data attestation and additional token mining.
FXRP’s expansion could broaden how XRP holders participate in decentralized finance without leaving their native chain, potentially lowering barriers for retail and institutional users seeking yield or lending options. If cross-chain working capital becomes more seamless, it may increase XRP’s utility beyond payments, influencing liquidity flows and network activity. However, reliance on wrapped assets and new protocols carries smart-contract and counterparty risks, so adoption will depend on security track records and user confidence.
