Medieval-Inspired Lobby Design Welcomes Guests at Wisconsin Resort
Dellshire Resort, which opened in June in Wisconsin Dells, features a lobby designed to evoke a lavish European castle using natural materials like locally sourced Chilton Rustic stone. The design team from ADCI incorporated wood tones, leather furniture, and custom chandeliers to create a storybook atmosphere. They also worked to hide mechanical venting to preserve the medieval aesthetic.
The resort marks Wisconsin Dells' first new-build property in more than twenty years, with 208 guest rooms. ADCI's design team anchored the lobby palette around locally quarried Chilton Rustic stone, then layered complementary woodwork and leather furnishings to reinforce the castle-like atmosphere. Custom chandeliers received medallion woodwork on the ceiling to heighten their visual prominence, while the pond feature gained a water-spouting dragon statue that echoes a larger fire-breathing sculpture at the property's entrance. The team also specified carpet tile patterned after a deconstructed Persian rug, balancing Old World aesthetics with practical maintenance needs. Ventilation ductwork was carefully concealed within walls to preserve the immersive medieval setting.
