OpenAI to Debut Cyber AI Model and Automated Security Deployment Product

OpenAI is set to preview its new cybersecurity model, GPT-6 Cyber, along with a companion product designed to automate secure deployment. The company has been releasing cyber-focused models throughout the year, with this being the fourth. OpenAI also plans to invest $1 billion to subsidize cybersecurity product use for critical services.
OpenAI’s upcoming GPT-6 Cyber preview follows three earlier cyber-focused models released this year, each tied to the company’s enterprise push under Chief Revenue Officer Dali Rajic. The companion deployment product, still unnamed, would let customers build automated security workflows and patch vulnerabilities, while giving OpenAI greater visibility into model usage for safety monitoring. Access is currently limited to the application-only Daybreak Red program, with a broader Daybreak Blue tier also available. Separately, OpenAI has committed $1 billion to subsidize cyber product use for critical services, and its Sept. 29 DevDay event is expected to feature a dozen or more non-cybersecurity launches, following a two-week launch freeze.
This move could reshape how organizations defend against AI-driven attacks, particularly for critical infrastructure, where automated patching may reduce response times. However, it also raises questions about dependency on a single vendor for security, and the oversight OpenAI gains over customer workflows may create privacy or control concerns. Enterprises and government agencies could benefit, but smaller firms might struggle to access these tools without subsidies.
