Barcelona sporting director dismisses link to Manchester United teen Gabriel
Barcelona's sporting director Deco has stated the club has no interest in Manchester United's 15-year-old JJ Gabriel. After informing Manchester United of his desire to leave, he made a trip to Barcelona, though the club's sporting director has now publicly distanced the Catalan side from the pursuit. A key factor in his potential move is his eligibility for an EU passport, which he could obtain through his father's Irish background or his mother's Greek-Cypriot heritage. This would allow him to join a continental club upon turning 16 in early October. However, current tournament rules would bar him from playing for any other team in this season's competition.
