Capcom reveals Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies VR for Meta Quest headsets

Capcom has announced Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies VR, a VR remake of the 2013 game, coming next year to Meta Quest devices. It features hand-tracking and optional voice activation for shouting "Objection!" The game includes the original cases and story, with crime scenes explorable in 3D.
The VR remake marks a notable shift for Capcom, which has spent recent years reissuing older Ace Attorney titles in compilation bundles rather than developing new entries. The 2013 original was the fifth mainline game and introduced 3D character models for the first time, making it a natural fit for a VR conversion. Its courtroom sequences and investigation phases translate directly into the headset's interactive spaces.
The announcement also leaves the series' future unclear. The most recent wholly original Ace Attorney game was 2017's The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve, and the only title still absent from modern platforms is the 2012 Professor Layton crossover, which a recent Steam achievement leak suggests may be getting a re-release. This VR project could be a test of whether the franchise's courtroom drama works in an immersive format.
This VR adaptation could broaden Ace Attorney's appeal beyond its traditional fanbase by making courtroom theatrics more physically engaging. The voice-activated "Objection!" mechanic may attract casual players and streamers seeking shareable moments, while hand-tracking could make investigations feel more intuitive. However, the remake's focus on an older title rather than a new story may disappoint longtime fans hoping for fresh narrative content, potentially signaling that Capcom views VR as a testing ground rather than a primary direction for the series.
