Rematch Joins Xbox Game Pass Essential as 2026's 21st Addition
Rematch, a multiplayer soccer game from Sloclap and Kepler Interactive, is now available on Xbox Game Pass Essential as of September 25. It marks the tier's first new addition since July and the 21st title to join in 2026. The game, which launched in June 2025, had previously been part of Game Pass Ultimate.
Rematch's arrival on the Essential tier extends its reach beyond the Premium subscribers who had access since its June 2025 launch. The game supports both console and PC platforms and carries a handheld-optimized label on the Xbox Store, suggesting flexibility across devices. Its September 25 debut ends a roughly two-month gap in Essential-tier additions, which had last seen a new title in July.
The accompanying Season 5 update, released a day earlier, pairs the Blue Lock crossover with mechanical refinements. The limited-time Aura Striker mode introduces a meter-based boost system while automated goalkeeping alters the typical 3v3 flow. Sloclap also adjusted core gameplay, including stamina-dependent dribbling, extended goalkeeper reach, revised tackle outcomes, and clearer feedback on canceled volleys, alongside free and premium Blue Lock-themed content.
The migration of Rematch from Premium to Essential could widen the multiplayer player base, potentially shortening matchmaking times and extending the game's lifespan. For subscribers on the entry-level tier, this may represent a meaningful value increase after a quiet summer. The pattern of titles moving down tiers over time could also shape subscriber expectations about when to wait versus upgrade, though the timing of such shifts remains unpredictable.
