Websol gets 54 acres in West Bengal for 4 GW solar cell and module plant
West Bengal has allotted about 54.20 acres at Falta Industrial Park to Websol Energy System for a greenfield solar manufacturing facility. The plant will have 4 GW of capacity, split into two 2 GW phases, near Websol's existing Falta SEZ operations. The existing site has 1,200 MW of cell capacity and 550 MW of module capacity, and earlier in February 2026 Websol secured 85.5 MW of module orders worth about Rs 1.72 billion.
Websol Energy System has received roughly 54.20 acres from the West Bengal government at Falta Industrial Park in Kolkata. The land is intended for a new solar manufacturing complex, with 4 GW total output divided into two equal 2 GW stages.
The proposed site sits near Websol’s current Falta Special Economic Zone plant, which produces 1,200 MW of cells and 550 MW of modules and handles wafers as large as 210 mm. In February 2026, the company also reported 85.5 MW of module orders worth about Rs 1.72 billion, due for delivery by May 2026.
The expansion could affect local workers, suppliers, and nearby communities by creating construction and manufacturing jobs, while potentially strengthening regional solar supply chains. It may also increase demand for skilled labor and logistics in and around Falta.
