SECI seeks producers for 54,000 MTPA green ammonia supply
SECI has issued a request for selection to choose green ammonia producers for 54,000 metric tonnes per year under the SIGHT scheme's Mode-2A Tranche-II. The ammonia will go to Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited-III in Dhule, Maharashtra, with bids due October 27, 2026. Producers must build and finance production, storage and transport facilities, meet net worth requirements, and pay document, processing and earnest money fees.
Under the SIGHT scheme's Mode-2A Tranche-II, SECI has opened a cost-based competitive selection for companies to make and deliver 54,000 metric tonnes per year of green ammonia. The chosen supplier will serve Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited-III's Dhule, Maharashtra facility, which needs that annual volume and can receive up to 5,000 metric tonnes monthly. Bids are due by October 27, 2026.
Applicants must finance, build, own, and operate production assets, plus storage and transport to the delivery point. They need approvals and permits themselves. Financial rules include net worth of Rs 50 million per 1,000 MTPA based on FY2025-26 capacity, plus Rs 25,000 document fee, Rs 1.5 million processing fee, and an earnest money deposit bank guarantee. Trading or arbitrage is barred.
The tender may strengthen India's green ammonia supply chain, potentially benefiting fertilizer and industrial users, including the Dhule plant and its surrounding agricultural network. Local communities could see construction and operations jobs, while transport and storage activity may bring infrastructure investment. At the same time, project costs and compliance burdens may favor larger, well-capitalized producers, so smaller firms could find participation harder. Environmental gains would depend on how the ammonia is produced and delivered.
