ACI Worldwide Adds XRP Ledger to SWIFT-Linked Settlement Options

ACI Worldwide has enabled support for the XRP Ledger as a settlement rail under SWIFT's multi-chain ledger initiative. ACI handles roughly 9% of global SWIFT traffic, representing about $155 trillion in annualized volume. Ripple's On-Demand Liquidity technology could let SWIFT-connected banks use XRP for liquidity and convert back to local currencies.
ACI Worldwide has added the XRP Ledger to the settlement options available through SWIFT’s multi-chain ledger effort. ACI processes about 9% of SWIFT traffic, equal to roughly $155 trillion annualized, so the integration could expose XRP-based settlement to a large existing payments network.
Ripple’s On-Demand Liquidity lets banks use XRP for liquidity and convert back into local currencies. Ripple bought GTreasury in 2025; that firm belonged to SWIFT’s certified partner program, and the combined platform now handles SWIFT messages, reference lookups, and accounts for digital assets such as XRP and RLUSD. SWIFT does not guarantee Ripple’s stack will be used in every case.
If adopted, this could affect banks, corporate treasuries, and customers sending cross-border payments. Faster settlement and 24/7 liquidity may reduce delays and costs, though reliance on crypto rails could introduce new operational and regulatory questions. The impact may be gradual, since SWIFT does not guarantee use and banks can choose among rails.
