Visibility gaps grow as AI agents spread through go-to-market workflows

A LeanData report found that most go-to-market teams have deployed at least one AI agent, but many cannot say how many are acting on customer records. Nearly one-third of respondents lacked an agent count, and 30% discovered actions without an audit trail. Data quality and undocumented processes are major barriers as automated decisions outpace oversight.
LeanData’s 2026 readiness report surveyed 157 B2B practitioners in May 2026, mostly in operations roles. While 93% had at least one AI agent, almost a third could not state how many agents touched records, and 30% uncovered actions lacking an audit trail. About 79% were either launching initial agent use cases or scaling them; only 8% called their AI operations fully optimized.
Agents arrive through embedded tool features (69%), custom LLM applications (62%), and enterprise agent platforms (46%). Most teams reported three or four agents. Data quality and readiness topped transformation obstacles at 55%, and 70% said poor data hygiene hurt execution. When seeking coordination technology, 31% wanted a full record-action audit trail, while 21% wanted agents governed by the same rules as human teams.
