Markon launches year-round mandarin supply program

Markon Cooperative has launched a year-round mandarin program under its Markon First Crop brand. The effort combines domestic and imported fruit to give members steady access to high-quality mandarins, with U.S. supplies from October through May and Peru/Chile fruit from May through October. The fruit is mainly packed in small to medium sizes in 30-pound volume-filled cartons.
Markon Cooperative, identified as BB #123315, has rolled out a year-round mandarin offering under its Markon First Crop label. Fruit will be loaded at 4Earth or California Central Valley, with U.S. production covering October through May and Peruvian and Chilean supplies filling May through October.
The line emphasizes small and medium fruit, typically 24- to 28-count, shipped in 30-pound cartons filled by volume and holding roughly 160 to 180 pieces. Markon says the packaging supports a consistent look and recognition for safety practices, while one brand covers both domestic and imported seasons.
This program could give foodservice operators and their customers more dependable access to mandarins outside domestic harvest windows, potentially smoothing menu planning and supply gaps. It may also deepen links between U.S. buyers and Peruvian and Chilean growers, affecting overseas producers, transport demand, and seasonal pricing. Consumers might see steadier availability, though imported supply can carry different environmental and cost tradeoffs. Overall, the impact may be modest but meaningful for members seeking consistent branded fruit year-round.
