Wolverine PS5 Patch Adds Option to Disable Collectible Scent Trails

Insomniac has released PS5 patch 1.001.006 for Marvel's Wolverine. A new settings toggle lets players turn off scent trails and related indicators for collectibles. Story-related scent trails will still appear, while collectible guides may become more necessary.
Insomniac's PS5 update 1.001.006 adds separate settings for scent trails, audio clues, and Nightmare Roots. Players can disable collectible-related guidance, including roots near Nightmare Doors, sounds tied to Material Crates, and the trail toward Whisky Bottles. The studio also bundled fixes for crashes and bugs reported by players.
The patch follows an earlier adjustment that reduced the strength of the blue smoke trail. Insomniac says narrative scent trails remain active, and the game likely keeps collectible indicators on by default unless players change them in the pause menu. With guidance removed, external collectible guides may become more useful.
This optional toggle could shift how some players experience collectible hunting, making exploration feel more self-directed while potentially frustrating those who relied on visual or audio cues. Players with certain accessibility needs may keep the aids enabled, so the change is unlikely to remove guidance entirely. Guide makers and community resources may see renewed interest if more users disable the indicators. Overall, the impact is likely limited to Wolverine's audience and how they choose to navigate its optional content.
