Bali Regency Launches Free Pet Vaccination and Sterilization Drive Against Rabies
The Jembrana Regency government in Bali has started a rotating program offering free health checks, vaccinations, and sterilization for pets to prevent rabies. Officials focused on Mendoyo District because of its high number of dogs and cats, and the effort involves local agriculture authorities, veterinary groups, and a foundation. The campaign is tied to World Rabies Day 2026 and aims to reduce transmission risks in domestic animals.
Jembrana’s program rotates monthly through districts, offering pet health checks, rabies shots, and sterilization at no cost. Mendoyo District was prioritized because it has many dogs and cats, which can carry rabies. The effort is tied to World Rabies Day 2026 and involves the regency’s agriculture office, veterinary association, and Seva Bhuana Foundation.
Officials also urge owners to watch the health of dogs, cats, and monkeys. Bupati I Made Kembang Hartawan said cooperation across agencies must continue. The launch was observed at Pergung Field in Mendoyo.
Residents and pet owners in Jembrana may benefit from lower rabies risk if more animals are vaccinated and sterilized.
