Aeroplan Cardholders Get New 15% Award Discount on Air Canada Flights
The Chase Air Canada Aeroplan Credit Card now gives primary cardholders at least 15% fewer points required on eligible Air Canada award flights. To receive the discount, the card must be linked to an Aeroplan account and the booking must be made through Air Canada's website, app, or call center. The savings can also stack with Aeroplan Priority Rewards for elite members.
The refreshed Chase Air Canada Aeroplan card gives primary cardholders a minimum 15% reduction in points needed for qualifying Air Canada awards. To qualify, the card must be connected to an Aeroplan account, and bookings must run through Air Canada’s own website, app, or phone line. Authorized users cannot trigger the benefit, though companions on the same reservation still receive it.
At least one flight segment must be flown by Air Canada or its Express or Rouge subsidiaries; itineraries solely on partner airlines do not qualify. The reduction applies only to base-fare points, not taxes, fees, cash co-pays, insurance, or carbon offsets. Cardholders can also combine it with elite Priority Rewards, which cut points for one passenger by half.
Frequent Air Canada travelers who hold the card could find award flights more attainable, since fewer points may be needed for the same redemption. This may strengthen loyalty to both the airline and the card issuer, while encouraging direct bookings. Travelers without the card, or those booking solely on partner airlines, may face comparatively higher point costs, potentially widening perceived value gaps. Elite members able to stack Priority Rewards could benefit most, though the overall effect on broader travel affordability remains limited and uncertain.
