Co-op Wholesale renews Pro Gro supply agreement
Co-op Wholesale has renewed a five-year supply agreement with Pro Gro Supermarkets. The contract covers all 12 Nisa stores that Pro Gro runs in Scotland and keeps Co-op own-brand products available across several categories. Pro Gro's managing director said the extension was straightforward because no other supplier offered comparable support.
The renewed arrangement runs for five years and applies to every one of Pro Gro’s dozen Nisa outlets in Scotland. It preserves the retailer’s ability to stock Co-op-branded goods in several product areas, including alcoholic beverages, grab-and-go food, snacks and evening meal solutions.
Pro Gro’s managing director described the decision as uncomplicated, saying rival suppliers did not provide support at a comparable level. Co-op Wholesale’s sales and partnerships director welcomed the continuation of the relationship, calling Pro Gro a strong business.
This extension may help maintain product availability and consistency across a small Scottish convenience chain, affecting shoppers who rely on nearby stores for everyday groceries. It could also support Pro Gro’s staff and suppliers by providing continuity, while reinforcing Co-op Wholesale’s presence in the independent retail sector. The wider effect may be limited to those stores and their local communities, though similar supply deals can shape competition and choice in convenience retail.
