European Startups Raise About $42M Across AI and Biotech Rounds

A relatively quiet funding window saw roughly $40 million to $45 million across notable rounds, led by Kasvu Therapeutics’ €30 million Series A. The deals focused on AI infrastructure, precision oncology, and neuropsychiatric biotech, with Clastix and Prevision Medicine among the AI-related recipients. Investors included CDP Venture Capital, Mistral AI, and Hadean Ventures, and the activity was concentrated in Finland, Italy, and Switzerland.
The window totaled about $40 million to $45 million, with three transactions accounting for nearly all capital. Kasvu Therapeutics’ €30 million Series A, roughly $34 million, was the largest and was oversubscribed; Hadean Ventures led. Clastix raised €2.9 million for cloud/Kubernetes AI infrastructure, with CDP Venture Capital and Mistral AI participating. Prevision Medicine focuses on AI-enabled precision oncology. The startups are based in Finland, Italy, and Switzerland.
No U.S. mega-rounds or Big Tech-led deals appeared in this window. The mix points to European support for AI infrastructure and life sciences, including psychiatric drug development. Investors included a national venture fund and an AI company, suggesting strategic interest rather than only financial backing.
If these rounds advance, patients with neuropsychiatric conditions or cancer could gain access to new treatment approaches, while European AI infrastructure firms may strengthen local cloud capacity. Researchers, clinicians, and startup employees in Finland, Italy, and Switzerland may see more opportunities. Still, early-stage funding does not guarantee products reaching the public, and benefits may take years to materialize. The concentration in a few deals may also limit near-term effects outside these sectors.
