Black Music Action Coalition Gala Honors Common, Patti LaBelle, Public Enemy and Industry Leaders
The Black Music Action Coalition held its sixth annual gala, presented by Live Nation, at the Beverly Hilton. Honorees included Common, Patti LaBelle, Public Enemy, Nicole Wyskoarko and Tina Davis. The Black Music Action Coalition’s sixth annual gala, backed by Live Nation, took place at the Beverly Hilton and was emceed by Kenny Burns. Alongside Common, Patti LaBelle, Public Enemy, Nicole Wyskoarko and Tina Davis, additional awards recognized THE·TEAM and Universal Music Group’s Global Impact Team.
Award presenters included Sylvia Rhone, Dr. Mahlia Hines, Lee Daniels, Big Daddy Kane and Montell Jordan. BMAC president Willie “Prophet” Stiggers said the gathering came when Black music’s cultural importance remains essential. Common credited Harry Belafonte’s example, while Chuck D and Flavor Flav received a standing ovation.
The gala’s recognition of Black artists and executives may reinforce public awareness of Black music’s historical and commercial influence. Audiences, emerging creators, and industry professionals could see broader validation of varied contributions, from performance to label leadership.
