Spotify reported that Taylor Swift had the biggest single-day streaming total for a female artist on its service in 2026. The surge came after she released four bonus tracks on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, and the song “Patient Zero” also set a one-day record for a female artist on the platform this year. Swift is scheduled to premiere a music video for “Patient Zero” during the MTV Video Music Awards.
Spotify shared on Friday, Sept. 25, that Swift’s four added tracks helped her post 2026’s largest one-day streaming figure for a woman on the service. “Patient Zero,” the lead focus among the new songs, also earned the year’s biggest single-day song total by a female artist there. The Encore adds “Babylon,” “Pink Clouding” and “Cleveland!” to the original project.
That original album previously topped the Billboard 200 for 12 weeks and debuted with 4.002 million equivalent album units in the U.S. Swift is set to debut a “Patient Zero” video during Sunday’s MTV VMAs, with Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson appearing; she directed it and will receive the first Artist Director Honors.
The record surge may amplify Swift’s already sizable cultural footprint, drawing more attention to Spotify’s daily charts, the VMAs broadcast and deluxe-edition release tactics. Fans could see added incentive to stream immediately, while labels and artists may study whether bonus tracks and award-show video premieres can extend an album’s commercial life.
