A leafy modernist home rises in São Paulo
111 House in São Paulo was designed by Isay Weinfeld with landscape architect Rodrigo Oliveira. The residence combines contemporary, modernist-inspired architecture with dense tropical planting. 111 House occupies an urban São Paulo plot, pairing 517 sq m of built area with a 280 sq m garden. Its design serves a couple who collect contemporary art and their two children, balancing gallery-like display areas with relaxed spaces for friends and everyday family life.
The architecture uses clean lines, exposed concrete and warm wood, while planters are embedded into the facade so vegetation climbs all sides rather than staying only at ground level or on terraces. Rodrigo Oliveira selected cold-climate species, small leaves, flowers and varied plants, including wind-resistant choices, rather than a dense broad-leaf tropical forest.
