Phones Confirmed for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6
Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 mobile processors at its Hawaii summit. The Extreme model is aimed at agentic AI performance in premium Android devices. Confirmed handsets include the Honor Magic 9 Pro Max, iQoo 16, and Motorola Signature 27, among others.
At its Hawaii summit, Qualcomm announced two mobile processors: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. The Extreme version targets agentic AI performance in premium Android devices. It succeeds the prior Elite generation.
Confirmed handsets include Honor Magic 9 Pro Max, iQoo 16, Motorola Signature 27, OnePlus 16, RedMagic 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro series. The iQoo 16 and Pad Ultra launch 29 September; RedMagic 12 Pro arrives early November. Xiaomi’s Pro uses the standard chip, while its Pro Max uses Extreme. OnePlus 16 will not launch in the West.
These chips could affect Android buyers, app developers, and device makers. Faster on-device AI may make assistants, cameras, and productivity tools more responsive, but premium pricing could limit early access. Developers may need to adapt to new AI capabilities, while users could see benefits in daily tasks or drawbacks such as battery drain and privacy concerns.
