Adobe Premiere Arrives on Android With Free Basic Editing
Adobe has released an Android version of Premiere that allows basic video editing at no cost, without requiring a Creative Cloud subscription or an Adobe account. The app supports a multi-track timeline, templates, transitions, audio noise reduction, and 4K exports without watermarks. Firefly-powered tools such as Generative Fill and AI sound or video generation use generative credits that must be purchased.
Adobe’s Premiere video editor has moved beyond iPhone availability, arriving for Android users through Google Play. Its basic editing tier can be used without paying for Creative Cloud or creating an Adobe account.
The Android release includes a multi-track timeline for video, music, text, voice-over, and effects, plus templates, transitions, noise reduction, and 4K exports without watermarks. Firefly-based Generative Fill and AI sound/video generation require purchased generative credits. Adobe also plans future additions such as Adobe Fonts, better subtitles, keyframes, cropping, beat detection, and cross-device project continuation.
The Android launch could broaden access to video editing for casual creators, students, and small businesses that rely on phones. Free basics and watermark-free 4K exports may lower barriers, while paid Firefly credits could shape how much advanced AI use they adopt. Adobe may also use the app to draw mobile-first users into its ecosystem, potentially increasing competition among mobile editing tools.
