A longtime resident described wading through thigh-deep water and called it the worst flooding they had seen. Rain has fallen since Wednesday and is not expected to ease until late Sunday.
The disruption may affect residents forced to leave, commuters, market traders, hotel and cafe staff, and small businesses along flooded roads. Standing water and debris could raise health and safety concerns, while repeated flooding may strain household finances and local services. Recovery could be slower for those with fewer resources, though citywide impacts may also prompt renewed attention to drainage capacity.
