He had joined England’s senior squad as one of five supplementary players for a Florida pre-World Cup camp. His debut came as a second-half substitute in a 1-0 friendly win over New Zealand, making him the fifth-youngest England player. At Liverpool, he became their youngest first-team starter at 16 in an FA Cup tie against Accrington Stanley, then scored a late winner on his Premier League debut at Newcastle. This season he has made three league appearances, one as a starter.
