Verbio Reports Strong Revenue and Earnings Growth on Bioenergy Demand
German bioenergy company Verbio reported an 18.5% rise in revenue to €1.87 billion for its 2025/26 financial year. EBITDA climbed to €193.9 million from €14.2 million, helped by higher bioethanol and biomethane demand, better prices, and improved North American plant utilisation. Verbio expects EBITDA of €210 million to €250 million next year and plans further biogas and biomethane investment.
Verbio, based in Leipzig, Germany, lifted annual revenue to €1.87 billion from €1.58 billion, an 18.5% gain. EBITDA reached €193.9 million versus €14.2 million, while EBIT and net income returned to positive territory at €128.2 million and €63.9 million. Operating cash flow rose to €164.6 million, and net financial debt fell to €91.5 million from €164 million.
The company credited stronger bioethanol and biomethane sales, firmer prices, a more normal GHG quota market, better bioethanol spreads, and fuller use of North American plants. It forecasts EBITDA of €210 million–€250 million next year and plans more biogas and biomethane investment, including at South Bend, Indiana, plus a new ethenolysis plant in Bitterfeld, Germany.
Verbio’s stronger results could bolster employment and investment in bioenergy regions, while farmers and waste suppliers may gain additional outlets for feedstocks. Expanded biomethane and bioethanol output may offer transport and industry more lower-carbon fuel options. Communities near new or upgraded plants could see local economic activity, though actual benefits may depend on feedstock sourcing, regulation, and land-use pressures. Investors may read the improved balance sheet as a sign of greater sector stability.
