Andernach factions seek 2027 funds for up to 30 municipal homes
SPD and FWG in Andernach have asked for 2027 budget funds to advance a planned municipal housing project on Von-Bodelschwingh-Straße. The development would provide up to 30 homes, mainly one- and two-room units with a few three-room flats. The factions want to use state social housing loans and repayment subsidies, and the site's playground is also to be redesigned.
The two factions submitted their budget request on 21 September 2026. The city council had already accepted the Von-Bodelschwingh-Straße site in principle, so the current step concerns funding for planning and construction in 2027. The proposal covers as many as 30 dwellings, mostly one- and two-room units, with a smaller number of three-room flats.
Financing would rely on Rheinland-Pfalz social housing support, specifically loans from ISB plus repayment grants. The existing playground on the property would be rebuilt as part of the redevelopment. A final decision is still pending; the main and finance committee is scheduled to discuss the 2027 funds on 2 November 2026.
If funded, the project could ease pressure on renters seeking smaller, affordable homes in Andernach, particularly single people, older residents and small households. The redesigned playground may also affect nearby families by improving shared outdoor space.
