Four killed, four injured in Saint Vincent shooting near Kingstown
Police in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are investigating a shooting in the Green Hill area of Central Kingstown that left four people dead and four wounded. Officers said the victims appeared to have gunshot wounds and no arrests have been made. The killings come amid gang violence, with 37 homicides recorded in the country this year.
Officers were called to Green Hill in Central Kingstown late Friday after gunfire was reported. Acting Commissioner Trevor Bailey said two bodies were found on the roadway, a woman was found in a parked car, and another person was discovered on nearby land. Four wounded victims went to Milton Cato Memorial Hospital; two were later released, while two stayed for treatment.
No suspect has been detained, and police have not made a motive public. The country has logged 37 homicides this year as authorities deal with rival gang attacks and reprisals. The 32-island tourism-dependent nation is known for yachting and beaches; police plan more patrols, searches and intelligence sharing, and Bailey urged young people to avoid crime.
