Gaelco's Thunder Hoop arcade games head to Steam in a retro collection
QUByte Interactive is bringing Gaelco's Thunder Hoop and TH Strikes Back to Steam as the Thunder Hoop Collection on October 8. The 1992 original is a platformer, while the 1994 sequel adds more run-and-gun action and local co-op. The collection includes save states, rewind, and CRT-style filters.
Gaelco, a Spanish arcade publisher active in the 1990s, produced titles and electronic dartboards that remained largely unknown beyond Spain, with World Rally as a rare exception. QUByte Interactive, known for retro reissues, will release Thunder Hoop and TH Strikes Back together on Steam as the Thunder Hoop Collection on October 8.
The 1992 debut casts a teenage hero against cartoonish mutants created by Dr Genbreak, moving through city, sewer, and underwater stages. Its 1994 follow-up features an adult protagonist, heavier run-and-gun combat, local co-op, and a space shooter section.
