Most Blood Bowl 3 matches were played solo, developer says
Cyanide programmer Mathieu Valero told Wargamer that 70% to 80% of Blood Bowl 3 games in Eternal Leagues were played solo. The upcoming Warhammer Blood Bowl will focus on improved AI and a revamped UI, and owners of Blood Bowl 3 will receive it as a free upgrade. Valero said the original launch was in poor shape.
Mathieu Valero, a programmer at Cyanide, told Wargamer that solo play made up the clear majority of Blood Bowl 3 matches in Eternal Leagues, with a range of 70% to 80%. This challenges assumptions that multiplayer was the primary way people engaged with the game.
The next title, Warhammer Blood Bowl, is set to be published by Slitherine and offered as a free upgrade to Blood Bowl 3 owners. Cyanide is prioritizing better AI and a redesigned interface, including a customizable homepage and pinned competitions. Valero described the original launch as badly flawed. It is planned for release by year's end.
The finding may reassure solo players that their preferred style is common, potentially encouraging more investment in AI and single-player design. Multiplayer-focused communities could see stronger AI reduce gatekeeping or shift expectations. Existing Blood Bowl 3 owners may benefit from a free upgrade, lowering the barrier to trying the new version.
