He recalled an unannounced Eid al-Fitr prayer after Ramadan involving more than 100 people, an imam, and amplified speakers that woke residents. He described the neighborhood as chaotic.
After speaking publicly, Tye said his address was exposed and he received hostile mail, including a package with vulgar stickers and feminine hygiene products. He reported encouragement from strangers at a grocery store, bank, and pizza shop, and said he will keep advocating for longtime neighbors.
