Sisi seeks Orange partnership for second phase of Egypt’s digital health project
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met Orange CEO Christel Heydemann and expressed interest in cooperating on the second phase of the national digital health project. He highlighted possible benefits in digital infrastructure, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and systems integration. The talks also covered training Egyptian youth for future jobs in AI, data analysis, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, and increasing Orange’s investments in Egypt.
Egypt’s president raised the possibility of working with Orange Group on the next stage of the country’s national digital health effort. The talks, held with CEO Christel Heydemann, also involved Egypt’s communications and IT minister, Orange’s Middle East and Africa chief, and Orange Egypt’s CEO.
Discussions covered digital infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and linking systems, as well as training young Egyptians in AI, data analysis, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. The two sides also discussed expanding Orange’s Egyptian investments and helping youth earn internationally recognized professional technology certificates.
If the cooperation advances, patients and health workers could see more integrated digital services, while young Egyptians may gain training pathways into AI, data, cloud, and cybersecurity roles. Expanded investment and startup support may create jobs and innovation, though actual benefits would depend on implementation, access, and affordability. The initiative may also deepen Egypt’s technology links with regional and African markets.
