Gibson, 22 and No. 63, was playing her first WTA final. The Australian had earlier reached an Indian Wells quarterfinal as a qualifier and entered the Top 100. Fernandez improved to 14-7 against opponents outside the Top 50. The trophy was made by Singapore-founded jewelry brand State Property.
