Zverev clinches Laver Cup for Team Europe in London
Alexander Zverev defeated Learner Tien 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 on the final day to secure the Laver Cup for Team Europe. The win at London's O2 Arena gave Europe their sixth Laver Cup title. Zverev bounced back from a day-two loss to Alex de Minaur to help Europe reach the required 13 points.
Zverev’s victory came after a day-two singles setback against Alex de Minaur. Learner Tien, a 20-year-old American, was appearing for Team World for the first time. He forced a first-set tiebreak but could not sustain the challenge against Zverev, the world number two. Zverev has now featured in all six of Europe’s Laver Cup triumphs and owns the event’s record for singles wins, with eight.
