Pokemon GO is running a limited-time Mega Raid event that lets players obtain Mega Gengar at select retail locations. The event ties into the Pokemon TCG's 30th Celebration set. It follows the game's Twilight Trails season and recent additions such as Mega Staraptor and Mega Chandelure.
The promotion runs from late September to late October, with boosted Mega Gengar battles at participating Best Buy, GameStop, and Target stores. Visitors can also complete Timed Research for Poke Balls, event-themed encounters, and other rewards. Buying Pokemon GO gift cards at those retailers can unlock a Gengar Knit Cap cosmetic.
This retail tie-in supports the Pokemon TCG 30th Celebration set, which shares the same September 27 to October 20 window. It follows Pokemon GO's Twilight Trails season, after GO Fest 2026's Mega Finale, and arrives alongside recent Mega additions like Staraptor and Chandelure, plus Maschiff and Mabosstiff. A comparable TCG-linked event occurred with the Mega Lucario ex Figure Collection in late 2025.
