Sonos Ace Ultra Headphones Add Better Sound and More Mics
Sonos has announced the Ace Ultra, a $449 second-generation flagship headphone with redesigned 40mm drivers, additional microphones, Adaptive ANC, and longer battery life. It supports spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, head tracking, and lossless playback via USB-C or compatible aptX devices. Preorders are open, with general availability on September 29, 2026.
Sonos’s second-generation Ace Ultra keeps the original US launch price at $449 while upgrading its acoustic hardware. The new 40mm drivers are paired with ten microphones, two more than before, and Adaptive ANC that responds to surroundings and fit. Battery life is rated at 35 hours with ANC, five hours above the first Ace, with a three-minute charge said to yield three hours.
The headphones add three-band and eight-band EQ options, up from two-band controls, plus Adaptive EQ for fit changes. Spatial audio, Dolby Atmos, head tracking, and lossless playback are supported, though wireless lossless depends on aptX-compatible devices; USB-C offers a wired route. Replaceable ear cushions cost $39, and a battery kit is $25.
The Ace Ultra may appeal to people who want one headphone for travel, home listening, and spatial audio, especially Sonos speaker owners. Its premium price could reinforce the high-end headphone market, while replaceable cushions and a battery kit may encourage longer ownership and less e-waste.
