Uvision and Lendurai Team Up to Add Autonomy Software for NATO Customer
Israeli loitering-munitions maker Uvision has agreed to work with Estonia’s Lendurai to install the latter’s autonomy software on Uvision platforms for an unidentified NATO buyer. The Sept. 24 agreement is Uvision’s first public step into Estonia, a country seeking cheaper munitions and stronger defenses. Lendurai’s Neocortex software, which the company says has been used in Ukraine, is central to the partnership, though it is unclear whether the Hero drone is involved.
Uvision, an Israeli maker of loitering munitions founded in 2011, has developed the Hero family, whose members vary in size and range and unfold wings after launch. It has also acquired SpearUAV and introduced Cortex, a battle-management tool connecting sensors with Hero, Viper and Peregrine systems.
Lendurai, based in Estonia, produces the Accipiter interceptor and says its Neocortex autonomy software has seen combat in Ukraine. The Sept. 24 pact covers installing Lendurai software on Uvision platforms for an unnamed NATO buyer, though whether Hero is included remains unspecified.
The partnership may accelerate adoption of autonomy software in loitering munitions, potentially affecting how NATO forces conduct targeting and reconnaissance. Estonian and Israeli firms could deepen defense-industrial ties, while Baltic residents may see procurement choices tied to deterrence. Because the buyer is unnamed and Hero involvement unclear, broader effects on regional security or civilian risk remain uncertain and depend on deployment, oversight, and export controls.
