England names Australia-born Strange in Rugby League World Cup squad
England has named a 23-player squad for the Rugby League World Cup, including Australia-born Jasmin Strange. Strange, a Sydney Roosters forward, qualifies through her mother and is one of four players who could make their debut. Jasmin Strange, a Sydney Roosters second-rower, is among four uncapped options in England’s 23-player World Cup group. She is eligible because of her mother, Adele, while her father, John, had a playing spell at Featherstone in the 1990s and now leads the Roosters women’s team.
The squad also features NRLW-based players such as Hope Millard, Fran Goldthorp, Georgia Roche and Hollie-Mae Dodd. England open their pool campaign in Perth versus Wales on 17 October, meet Australia on 24 October, and close against Samoa in Wollongong on 30 October.
The selection may boost visibility for women’s rugby league in England and Australia, especially fans and young players following heritage-qualified athletes.
