Strategy Adds 1,665 Bitcoin, Treasury Holdings Near 848,000 BTC
Strategy acquired 1,665 Bitcoin for about $142.7 million last week, lifting its total to 847,666 BTC, according to a Form 8-K. The purchase was funded partly by $246.2 million in net proceeds from selling 1.47 million MSTR shares, with the rest going toward STRC preferred stock repurchases. The filing also showed changes in the company’s cash and reserve balances.
Strategy's Sept. 28 SEC filing covered Bitcoin purchases made Monday through Sunday. This batch averaged $85,681 per coin. Including fees, the company's total Bitcoin spend is $63.95 billion, or $75,437 per BTC on average.
It sold 1.47 million MSTR shares for $246.2 million net. Of that, $142.7 million funded Bitcoin and $103.5 million went to STRC repurchases; Strategy also used $48.1 million cash and repurchased 1.53 million STRC shares for $151.7 million. Cash fell to $1.00 billion from $1.05 billion, while a dividend/interest reserve slipped to $5.02 billion from $5.04 billion after $22.1 million in payouts. The prior week it bought 950 BTC for $75.7 million after a two-week pause.
Strategy's continued Bitcoin accumulation may influence how public companies and investors view crypto as a treasury asset. Shareholders could face greater exposure to Bitcoin price swings, while preferred holders may watch dividend and repurchase decisions closely. Broader markets may see sentiment effects, but the direct societal impact is likely limited to investors, employees, and counterparties tied to such corporate crypto strategies.
