FedEx Successfully Transports Giant Pandas From China to Zoo Atlanta

FedEx transported two giant pandas from Chengdu, China to Atlanta aboard a specialized cargo aircraft, continuing its decades-long tradition of supporting global wildlife conservation efforts. The pandas, traveling in custom-built crates with fresh bamboo and caretakers aboard the Boeing 777F, arrived safely and began quarantine at Zoo Atlanta before their public debut later this year. FedEx donated the full transportation cost and provided additional logistical support, marking the company's 23rd panda transport operation since 2000.

Zoo Atlanta welcomed two young giant pandas in late September 2026 through a specialized international transport operation. The male and female pandas, both under seven years old, originated from Chengdu in southwestern China and traveled in a dedicated cargo aircraft equipped with live bamboo and dedicated animal care specialists throughout the journey. Upon arrival in Georgia, they entered a quarantine period before becoming accessible to the public later in the year.

FedEx has established itself as a leading logistics partner for endangered species relocation, having completed this type of mission repeatedly over the past quarter-century. The company absorbs transportation expenses and provides ground support as part of broader conservation initiatives, treating panda transfers as singular cargo priorities rather than standard freight operations.
