University of Arkansas Launches Electronics Research Institute Focused on Power Semiconductors and Cybersecurity
The Arkansas Research Institute for Electronics Systems (ARIES) was established to advance development and deployment of next-generation power electronics and semiconductor technologies for demanding applications. The institute combines university researchers with proven federal and industry partnerships, operating advanced fabrication facilities including MUSiC, the nation's only publicly accessible silicon carbide integrated circuit fabrication laboratory. ARIES organizes its work around four research pillars: power electronics, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, photonics, and radio frequency/microwave technology.
The institute represents a significant consolidation of existing University of Arkansas research strengths into a unified organization. By merging the established UA Power Group with additional expertise in photonics and radio frequency technologies, ARIES creates a comprehensive electronics research ecosystem spanning fundamental materials science through final system deployment and testing.
