Egyptian fintech firm completes over 4 billion pound securitization bond issuances

MNT-Hala, a leading Egyptian fintech company, has successfully completed three securitization bond issuances totaling more than 4 billion Egyptian pounds for its two subsidiaries. The bond offerings include 528.5 million pounds for Hala Consumer Finance and 1.2 billion and 2.28 billion pounds for Tasaheel Finance, with 13-month durations and A- credit ratings from MERIS. The issuances support the company's strategy to diversify funding sources and expand consumer and small business financing across Egypt.
MNT-Hala's securitization strategy involves channeling funds through two distinct operating subsidiaries with different market focuses. Hala Consumer Finance targets individual borrowers, while Tasaheel Finance serves small business clients. The staggered issuance amounts—with Tasaheel's offerings significantly larger than Hala's—suggest differential demand or growth trajectories across these consumer segments. All three bonds carry identical 13-month maturities and A- ratings, indicating consistent credit quality assessments across the securitized loan portfolios backing each issuance.
The transaction involved a coordinated network of Egyptian financial institutions and professional services firms, including two investment advisory houses, legal counsel, auditors, and a dedicated securitization company. This infrastructure reflects Egypt's developing capital markets ecosystem for structured finance products.
These securitizations could expand access to consumer and small business financing across Egypt by reducing MNT-Hala's reliance on traditional bank lending and diversifying its funding base. Improved liquidity may enable faster loan origination and potentially lower borrowing costs for consumers. The strong credit ratings may also signal market confidence in fintech lending models within Egypt, potentially encouraging similar issuances by competitors and contributing to broader financial inclusion efforts.
