Literary-Themed Anime RPG LitGirls Announced for 2027 Release

Nanairo Enterprise and DANGEN Entertainment are developing LitGirls: Bookbound Dungeon, a turn-based RPG featuring characters inspired by classic literature including Alice, Dante, Juliet, and Raven. Players will explore dungeons based on famous novels while collecting powerful words called LOGOS to enhance their party members' abilities. The game launches on PC in early 2027 with console versions planned, including an uncensored version available separately.
LitGirls: Bookbound Dungeon represents a collaboration between Tokyo studio Nanairo Enterprise and DANGEN Entertainment, following the studio's previous work on TurretGirls, a rail-shooter game. The RPG's core mechanic centers on collecting linguistic elements called LOGOS to strengthen party members, which players acquire while navigating dungeon environments modeled after renowned literary works and confronting literature-inspired adversaries.
The game's distribution strategy includes platform-specific variations, with a separate adult-oriented version available for PC outside standard storefronts. This tiered release approach reflects publisher decisions regarding content appropriateness across different gaming platforms, a consideration increasingly common for titles targeting mature audiences.
LitGirls could appeal to overlapping audiences interested in both anime aesthetics and classical literature, potentially introducing younger players to famous literary works through interactive gaming. The game's success may influence how publishers approach IP adaptation from literary sources in the RPG genre. Additionally, the separate content versions may set precedent discussions around platform policies regarding mature game content and digital distribution outside mainstream channels.
