Mobile Broadcast Provider Upgrades Audio Console Equipment for Enhanced Production Capabilities

Mesh Broadcast Services has deployed a Calrec Argo M audio console in its 40-foot mobile production unit mounted on a new Freightliner truck, with installation completed by Canadian partner True North AV. The console supports multiple audio connectivity standards including Dante and MADI, allowing the company to handle diverse sports productions ranging from professional hockey and soccer to streaming events and extreme sports. The equipment saw its first deployment during a six-week FIFA Fan Festival contract in Vancouver.
Mesh Broadcast Services operates a fleet of mobile production units designed to serve diverse event types across North America. The company handles between ten and twelve events monthly, working with professional sports leagues including the Canadian Premier League and Professional Women's Hockey League, as well as entertainment and extreme sports programming. The upgrade reflects broader industry trends toward flexible, standardized connectivity infrastructure that can adapt to varying venue requirements and client specifications.
The Eclipse unit's architecture prioritizes network-based audio routing through Dante connections, supplemented by traditional MADI and analog interfaces. This multi-protocol approach enables the mobile facility to operate across different venue setups without requiring extensive custom configuration. The addition of portable field I/O boxes and wireless communications systems extends the production truck's operational range, allowing audio feeds to travel significant distances from the broadcast vehicle to remote event locations.
This equipment upgrade may enable small to mid-sized production companies to compete more effectively in sports broadcasting by reducing setup time and increasing operational flexibility at diverse venues. The investment could affect freelance audio engineers by creating demand for technicians trained on modern networked audio systems. However, such capital-intensive equipment decisions may also widen competitive gaps between well-funded mobile units and smaller operations, potentially influencing which companies can service emerging sports markets and streaming platforms.
