Marvel Star Simu Liu Weds Allison Hsu in French Ceremony
Actor Simu Liu married Allison Hsu in France, more than a year after their engagement in Paris in May 2025. The couple, who dated for four years, became engaged at a location where Taylor Swift recorded a special congratulatory video message for Hsu. Liu has frequently shared his affection for Hsu on social media throughout their relationship.
Simu Liu and Allison Hsu's relationship began in late 2022 and progressed relatively quickly through public milestones. Hsu works as a digital marketing director at Interscope Records, and the couple made their relationship official at a Hollywood premiere just days after being first linked on social media. Throughout their four-year courtship, Liu demonstrated consistent public affection through social media posts celebrating their experiences together.
The May 2025 engagement in Paris incorporated an unexpected celebrity element when Liu coordinated with Taylor Swift's team to secure a personalized video message for Hsu, who is a devoted Swift fan. Liu revealed on a late-night talk show that Swift's music had been meaningful to their relationship's early development, making her participation in the proposal particularly meaningful to his partner.
This wedding may reinforce broader cultural interest in celebrity relationships that blend traditional romance with modern social media documentation and parasocial fan engagement. The story's prominence could reflect how audiences increasingly follow actors' personal milestones, potentially influencing how public figures navigate privacy and sharing. The inclusion of Taylor Swift in the proposal narrative may also demonstrate how contemporary celebrities leverage cross-industry connections, potentially shaping expectations around elaborate, publicized engagements.
