Ukrainian Defense Startup Names New Executive to Lead International Expansion

Sine Engineering, a Ukrainian defense technology company founded after Russia's 2022 invasion, appointed Nataliya Mykolska as vice president of growth and affairs, effective October 19. Mykolska, formerly with Diia.City United, will oversee the startup's global expansion, strategic partnerships, and capital acquisition efforts. Sine Engineering develops communication and navigation systems for combat environments and has already integrated its modules into systems used by over 150 Ukrainian drone and interceptor manufacturers.
Sine Engineering represents a wave of defense innovation emerging from Ukraine's wartime necessity. The company's technology addresses a critical battlefield challenge: maintaining reliable communications and navigation when adversaries employ electronic jamming. By serving over 150 manufacturers of unmanned systems and interceptor equipment, the startup has already demonstrated substantial integration into Ukraine's defense ecosystem. Mykolska's appointment reflects the company's evolution from survival-mode startup to scaling operation, following its March 2026 selection as the inaugural recipient of US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund backing.
This leadership move may signal growing international confidence in Ukrainian defense capabilities and innovation potential. Mykolska's background in law, trade representation, and technology sector governance could facilitate critical access to Western markets, investment channels, and government relationships necessary for scaling defense exports. The appointment may accelerate technology transfer opportunities and strengthen Ukraine's position as a defense technology hub, potentially creating competitive advantages during post-conflict reconstruction planning and economic diversification efforts.
